Nightwatch and Watchmen

Here's another fairly quick commission I churned out yesterday - an arctic fox character named Nightwatch. And in other news, I've been reading Watchmen lately. I was intrigued by the trailer for the upcoming movie version they showed before The Dark Knight. It looks like one of those movies which will either be an incredible triumph or a terrible disaster. In any case, I want to see it so I can decide for myself. I just hope it doesn't get rated R. But I downloaded the original graphic novel from the internet and have been reading the first couple of chapters. So far it's really interesting. I don't have a whole lot of experience with comic books, but this one definitely seems to be very well-done. The writing is good and the drawings have a cool cinematic feel to them. And there's all sorts of layers of symbolism and emotional turmoil. Fun stuff. I'll have to read the rest of it to see if it really is as good as it seems. In any case, it's more believable than the first issues of Iron Man...

I hate to break it to you but Watchmen is rated-R, it was actually one of the stipulations the director had going into making the film. Still, its a great read.
